Safety and security are an importance to WCS Malaysia. Please review our enhanced safety measures in order to better prepare and plan for an enjoyable WCS Malaysia experience.
The following rules must be followed by all World Cosplay Summit Malaysia attendees and staff in order to provide a safe, secure, and pleasant environment for everyone, which will be held at The Rift, Mid Valley on 14 and 15 July 2018.
These activities and behaviours are not allowed during World Cosplay Summit Malaysia
- Loitering at public areas that may obstruct the flow of traffic
- Hogging spaces at public areas (Softbox / Flash / Light Stands)
- Engaging in destructive and unsafe behaviour that disturbs the public or staff
- Physical or verbal harassment of public or staff
- Any act which could result in substantial risk or harm to people or property
- Use of drugs / alcohol / tobacco / vape
- Sexual misconduct, such as indecent exposure, offensive touching, or sexual harassment
- Engaging in any activity prohibited by law
- Possession of any item defined as a weapon, illegal or not
Individuals whose actions violate these rules will be asked to stop such actions. Repeated violations at the event area may result in confiscation of the violator’s pass. In the event of violation of the stipulated rules of conduct, WCS-MY & The Rift security staff reserve the right to require anyone violating these rules of conduct to leave the event without refund. Any violation of the rules of conduct, which involves activities prohibited by law, will result in notification of proper authorities.
World Cosplay Summit Malaysia is a family friendly convention. Please use discretion when planning your costumes for the event.
Hate, racism, or devil symbols will not be tolerated in any way.
Kindly practice decency on the level of exposure of your costume as this is an event open to public.
If your costume requires a lot of exposed skin, consider wearing a skin-coloured bodysuit.
No accessories that you could use to attach yourself, even temporarily, to another person is allowed. This includes, but is not limited to: handcuffs, leashes, ropes, etc.
Kindly avoid the usage of verbal abuse / profanities during the convention.
If a complaint is received about your costume or outfit, the matter will be investigated and you may be asked to change. Failure to do so, the attendee will be advised to leave the premise.
All military, law enforcement and other emergency service related costumes should be easily distinguishable from official uniforms.
Make sure all sharp edged objects have been dulled so as not to cause harm to others.
In cases where you’re wearing a large costume with wings, other large pieces that extend beyond your reach, are difficult to retract, or impair your vision, please ensure that you have a handler/assistant or two to assist you and/or be more aware of your surroundings.
Stay well hydrated by drinking and don’t forget to eat a proper meal!
If you are asked for a photo, please make sure to move out of the flow of traffic. Blocking hallways/walkways is a violation of the fire safety regulations and you will be asked to move.
ABSOLUTLEY no weapons that can be used for harm are allowed at WCS-MY. This is a strict policy and all prop/weapons will require to be checked at our registration counter for safety verification.
All prop/weapons are subject to approval or safety checks prior to entering the event.
All prop/weapons must be checked at our ticketing entrance area for clearance to enter the venue.
All prop/weapons must conform to the Law of Malaysia, Section 36 of the Firearms Act 1960 – Possession of and importation of imitation arms, any person who shall import or have in his possession or custody an imitation arm shall, on conviction, be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year, or to a fine not exceeding five thousand ringgit, or to both:
All weapons must be easily distinguishable from real weapons and must be constructed from safe, lightweight material. Approved materials are: rubber, plastic (PVC, worbla, etc.), foam, cardboard and papier-mâché.
Should the weapon be in the form of guns resembling a real life gun, kindly do mark the nozzle with orange.
Projectiles or any type of ammunition are forbidden. Airsoft, BB, paintball, dart, blow guns and water guns and their accompanying ammunition will NOT be permitted.
Metal weapons of any kind are forbidden. This includes tools, saws, handcuffs, brass knuckles, knifes or blades of any kind, sharp material, swords, chains or any type of metal than can be used for harm.
Costume swords/daggers made from approved materials are allowed, but may not have any sharp edges. Wooden swords are allowed, but must be tied to your costume in such a way that they cannot be drawn or unsheathed. If you wish to draw your sword to pose for a picture, it must be made of approved materials. Metal blades are not allowed, whether they are sheathed or not.
No wooden or aluminum/metal bats are permitted.
Absolutely no incendiary, airborne (sprays), or flammable weapons are allowed.
Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited.
All participants are required to be sober while attending the event.
Staff and volunteers are given the right to deny attendee entry to the event if they appear to have had prior consumption of alcohol.
Anyone found to be suspicious of intoxication at the convention will be asked to leave the premises.
Repeated violations of the alcohol consumption policy at the event area may result in confiscation of the violator’s pass.
Etiquette and Autographs During Meet and Greet
Please respect the privacy and personal space of all guests, as well as to those waiting to see the guest.
Not all guests may want their pictures taken, so please ask for permission before doing so.
All attendees are asked to treat all participants, staff, volunteers and guests with dignity and respect.
Staff and volunteers will be attentive to anyone participating in harassment or assault and preserve the right to ask in-compliant attendees to leave the premises while confiscating passes.
Harassment and assault consist of but is not limited to the following:
- Physical assault or abuse;
- Un-welcomed comments about a person’s appearance, age, religion, race or sex;
- Anything that induces embarrassment, endanger a person’s safety, or demoralize others’ sense of self-worth;
- Undesired physical contact;
- Provocative actions to encourage negative and hostile environments
Attendees should not hesitate to ask staff or volunteers for assistance if they feel or see others uncomfortable due to harassment or danger of assault.
Attendees found in possession or distributing illegal substances such as drugs will be detained, have their passes revoked and reported to authorities.
Tickets should be treated as cash.
WCS-MY will not be held responsible for lost, stolen or damaged passes.
The passes must be visible at all times throughout the convention and all attendees must prepare to show them to any staff or volunteer upon request.
Passes are NON-TRANSFERABLE and NON-REFUNDABLE – All sales are final & non refundable – No exceptions.
All staff has the right to question any suspicious (damaged, marked, obscure, or illegible), and/or potential counterfeits and it will be held for inspection. Any passes that are found counterfeit will be confiscated, and its holder banned from the premises.
Certain area of the event may not allow photos or video recordings. Please confirm with the staff and event coordinator prior to taking any photos and recordings.
We ask all attendees to obtain consent and be courteous before taking any pictures of any guests, and other cosplayers/attendees.
Please respect the wishes of anybody who asks not to be photographed or video-recorded.
The Rift / Mid Valley are non-smoking areas.
Smoking and vaping is generally prohibited on the event area.
All staff and volunteers will be attentive to thefts.
Attendees are asked to please pay close attention to their own belongings and avoid bringing unnecessary valuables.
If you wish to store your valuables, The Rift provides lockers at the cost of RM7.00 per locker.
WCS-MY is not liable for any form of losses due to theft.
Any persons caught in the act of theft will be reported to the authorities and banned from event ground.
